Johnny SimCash kicked the door to his truck closed and turned to look over the hill at the town below. “Lil’haven...” he smirked. “Well, ain’t you a sight fer sore eyes?”
Johnny strolled into town with his guitar swung over his back and tipped his hat at folks as he walked on by. Some of them stopped to say ‘hi’ back, but only one of them seemed to know who he was.
“Johnny?” Jolene stopped and put a hand gently on his shoulder. “Johnny SimCash?” Jolene put her hands on her hips - it had been years since she’d seen the famous country singer - and her friend!
He turned around and regarded the young woman. “Well, now. If it ain’t Miss Dixie. How you been young lady?”
Jolene grinned, her lip glossed lips shining. “Why didn’t you tell me you were back in town? You tryin’ to hide from me, Mr SimCash?”
“‘Course not, Jolene. Well, not exactly... I’ve just arrived... sorta had a surprise Simdependence Day concert in mind but I guess I’ve been found out.” He scanned the street. “Things have sure changed around here. You still hanging out with that girl, uh, what was her name... Belle?”
“Bella, and why don’t you come with me and you can see her yourself again?” Jolene hooked her arm with his and started strolling down the street again. “I always knew you had a thing for Bella. You dawg...”
Johnny chuckled. “Now, now, I won’t have you makin’ wild accusations. I got a reputation to look out fer.”
“So what’s this about a concert? Where were you going to perform?”
Johnny looked somber. “Well, I always said if I were to come back to Lil’haven, I would perform on a real country stage. You wouldn’t know where I could get me one of those do you?”
Jolene patted his arm. “Don’t worry about that. I’m sure we’ll find one for you.”
